|The usual cut off date for feeding a lawn is the first week of September in your gardening region so make a note of that for next year. You may still have a few weeks before your first frost. If so, you can apply a winterizer type fertilizer - one that is low in nitrogen but high in phosphorous and potassium. These two elements help the stems and roots grow strong and more able to tolerate the winter temperatures.
