My grass went dormant(I think) this summer from lack of water. Most of it has come back. I fertilized with scotts winterguard.Where the brown spots are the roots are still tight some I assuming it didn't get taken over with grubs. Will it eventually all come back before the winter? Should I seed the spots that are brown. Can I just sprinkle the seed over the brown spots.

I'd rake the dead spots and overseed. If you do this now the new grass will establish before the weather gets too cold. Or, you can leave the spots alone for now with the plans to rake them out and overseed in the early spring. Either way, your lawn should look nice and green by mid-spring.
