I live in Avondale, AZ. Planted a carolina jessamine earlier this year. on north side of wall, east side of house. It was growing very quickly, heat came and it has stopped growing. No new shoots at bottom and leaves at top are very small. What is wrong with this plant? I have fertilized and put manure and see no improvement. Thanks

Your Carolina jessamine will not put out new growth until after it has flowered. Once it begins to flower you'll see lots of new growth which is where next year's flowers will be produced. As you've discovered, it will suspend all growth during the hottest months of the year. Now that the weather is beginning to cool down, I think you'll see some activity from your plant.
