Hi I planted 3 Dwarf Alberta spruce spiral topiary evergreen shrubs brought from Home Depot this late spring. Four months later, one of them drop needles and turned completely brown. What happened to the shrub? Should I replace it? Thanks for your time.

If your Alberta spruce turned completely brown, it either developed root rot because the soil remained too soggy, or it was attacked by spider mites. If insects are the reason for the browning you would have seen some yellowing of the foliage before it turned brown. If the plant turned brown without first turning yellow, root rot is probably the cause. I'd replace the plant rather than try to coax it to grow.
