I am looking for a plant that I can use in a hanging basket that will attract Hummingbirds. The basket hangs in a partially shaded spot. I am willing to start the plants from seeds.

A hanging Fuchsia would be perfect for your shady spot. Fuchsia's come in such terrific flower colors that you'll probably have trouble making a choice! Hummingbirds love to visit the flowers. I'd suggest you purchase small starts of fuchsia's rather than germinating from seed. The starts can be pinched to encourage bushiness. Pinch back regularly to promote new shoots and flower buds, and keep the soil on the moist side to keep the leaves and stems lush.
