We are new to S. FL and are trying to get a handle on when to do what. We used to fertilize the lawn in the spring up north but is that the correct time to fertilize down here? Thanks!

Gardening in Florida can take some adjustment if you're used to gardening in another part of the country. Most turfgrasses in Florida should be fed in March and in September but supplemental feedings might be necessary, depending upon the type of turf you're growing. If you really want some in-depth information, the University of Florida has a publication you can access online. It addresses fertilization along with other care for turfgrass. You might want to print a copy for future reference. Here's the address: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/lh014

Hope it provides some guidance. Good luck with your new landscape!
