In general, you can apply 3 cubic yards of manure or other organic amendment per 1,000 square feet of garden space and work it into the soil to a depth of 8-10 inches. If you also want to add sand, simply spread a two inch layer of sand over the soil, top it with 4-5 inches of manure, and mix everything into the top 8-10 inches of native soil. A rototiller will make the work much easier! Good luck with your project! |
