|You can make your own protective cages with chicken wire - the kind with one-inch holes. Just cut squares large enough to wrap the bulbs and place the chicken wire over the bulb, making sure there's an opening at the top of the bulb so the stem can grow upward without obstruction. The roots will find their way through the holes in the bottom of the cage. Best wishes with your tulips!
