I have built a garden table for growing vegetables and I need to know if there is a safe paint I could use on the wood so it would last longer and the food be safe to eat? Thankyou for your time.

If your intention is to help preserve the wood, you can paint it with linseed oil. There's no pigment included so the wood will retain its natural color but the linseed oil will penetrate the wood and extend its life by keeping it from rotting.
