We bought 2 apple trees at the jacksonville Home Depot (Anna & Dorsett) and only really have room enough for one tree...so we planted the Anna and were wondering if we can plant the Dorsett just for cross pollenating and keep it quite small around 6 to 8 feet? ( We are not that interested in a huge yield) Thank you. |
You can keep your Dorsett small by pruning but you'll want to do your pruning after the flower petals fall from the tree. When you prune take care not to remove the fruiting spurs (that's where the flowers develop). If you do prune them off, you may not get quite as many flowers the following year. |
