|I had my lawn aerated on 10/04/10 I did not think much about it except it was dead grass that the sun burned up this summer, I read your info on thatching and realize thats what I have. My grass has started to sprout. Can I thatch it now, or when? Thanks for any advice you can give.

|If you overseeded after aerating your lawn you won't want to dethatch it just now. Wait until the new grass is well established and plan to dethatch in the spring. Dethatching or power raking will remove the excess thatch but it will also pull up some of the grass so reseeding will be necessary after dethatching. Wait until spring for this process and the lawn will fill in quickly. Good luck with your turf.
