|Crimson mandevilla is hardy in zones 9-11 but not in your zone 5 garden. The best way to keep your plant alive is to take it indoors over the winter months. You can start by pruning it back by about one half to two thirds and taking it indoors. It will die back a bit as it adjusts to the lower light levels and humidity indoors but should perk up within a few weeks. Keep it in bright light and water when the top of the soil begins to dry out. It should survive indoors although it probably won't flower for you until it is taken back outside next spring. Good luck with your plant!
