In a strong wind my bush got pulled out of the ground it was so top heavy. I usually cut them back in the spring but is it o.k. to cut them back now so I can get it replanted? Thank-you

In order to save your plant I think pruning now is important. Pruning can encourage new growth which won't have enough time to harden off before winter weather arrives so any new growth it puts out will probably die this winter. This simply means you'll need to prune again in the spring. But if it were my plant, I'd prune it now and reset it in the ground, then deal with any winter die back next spring. Good luck with your butterfly bush!
