What is the best type of mulch to put around junipers?

A 3-4 inch layer of mulch will help suppress weeds, moderate soil temperatures and slow water evaporation. Your junipers aren't picky about the type of mulch. You can use compost, straw, bark chips or any other organic matter as a mulch beneath your junipers.
