I live in So. CA. When should I prune my hydranga bush?

You can prune off the faded flowers now but you'll want to wait to do any major pruning until December or January. Your hydrangea will rest between now and then. When new growth begins this winter, prune it back by about two thirds. New flowering growth will develop in late winter and early spring. Enjoy your garden!
