Chula Vista, Ca
|I have three blueberry plants in containers. The varieties I have are misty, sunshine blue and sharpblue. Last year we had about 45 chill hours here in chula vista and I know these blueberries require more. I have this crazy idea to dig up the plants, pack the roots with peat moss and bundling the plants in the fridge. Would this be a good way to provide chill hours or will it kill my plants?

|I think your idea is a great one but I don't think it will work. Blueberries need a chill period but they also need daylight. I think that some years you'll get a good crop and some years you won't, depending upon weather. I'd leave the plants in the ground so they remain healthy. Wish I had a better solution for you!
