care for my lawn - Knowledgebase Question

I just planted a lawn by seed in May 2010, and now it is missing grass in patches(dog urine) and it has some yellowing. It also appears thin in parts. I have not fertilized it or reseeded and added compost to the top. What should I do first? fertilizing or reseeding with composting on top?

It's a little too late in the season to feed your lawn so I'd reseed now and cover the seeded areas with a thin layer of compost. After the seeds have sprouted and you've mowed the lawn 3 times it will be safe to feed the lawn. Depending upon your weather, that might not be until March or April. Best wishes with your lawn.
