I have a 2 acre sloped area in back of house where runoff has stripped the topsoil down to hard clay. Would terracing help stop the erosion and build up new soil? If so, grateful for reference of how to do it. it will be a big job.

Thanks,

William Armstrong

Terracing will help stop soil erosion but it's such a site specific project that I can't really offer design advice. You can get some background information on terracing from the following website: http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/featu...

You can also contact your local Soil Conservation office for additional help. Contact Natural Resources Conservation Service or the Conservation District via Derwood Service Center, 18410 Muncaster Rd., Derwood, MD 20855-1421 phone: (301) 590-2855.

Best wishes with your project!
