I submitted this question last night but had not updated my e-mail address.
I'm trying to get plants that I purchased in Sept. to rebloom. They are in the original pots
and produce buds than do not bloom.

Chrysanthemums will drop unopened flower buds if they are not getting enough sunshine or if the soil remains too wet. Try watering only when then soil feels dry to the touch and try to give your mums full sunshine - 8 hours - each day. Hope this answer makes it to your mailbox!
