How late in the fall season can I plant iris bulbs for spring/summer blooms?

You can plant iris rhizomes any time the ground is not frozen. I'd plant them now, then cover over the planting bed with several inches of organic mulch to help keep the soil from heaving during the winter/spring thaw and refreeze. Best wishes with your irises!
