Hi, what variety of almonds do you typically find in the grocery store? Also, do almonds need pollination? If they do, what trees pollinate best with others?

Almond trees are not well adapted to Texas. One problem, according to Texas A&M University, is their blooming season. It occurs too early in spring when there?s still the risk of frost. Often the flowers freeze before they can produce the almond fruit. If you'd like to try, Hall's Hardy and Star are the best varieties for your growing region. The almonds you find in grocery stores are typically grown in California.
