What are "row run" plants? I saw some plants advertised in a catalogue and the words "row-run plants" were at the end of the description.

Row run plants are simply those taken from the ground at the nursery without special consideration for their shapeliness or other qualities apart from being healthy and within a general size range; sometimes the best plants are selected and sold as "specimen" plants of premium quality with a price that reflects that. This is more important in trees and occasionally shrubs. Sometimes it doesn't make much difference which one you buy, other times, if say you are buying a tree for the focal point of your front yard you might prefer the more shapely, hand selected specimen grade.
