Is it possible to grow artichokes successfully in the mid-atlantic area?

You can grow artichokes if you treat them as annuals and plant new transplants into your garden each year. Artichokes need 90 to 100 frost-free days so your summer is long enough, but your winters are too harsh for them. Simply prepare a sunny bed for them and plant new plants each spring. I think you'll be successful.
