It's difficult to diagnose a plant problem without seeing it so I can only offer some general advice. First, it's normal for the oldest leaves to yellow and drop at this time of the year so if most of the foliage looks good and only a few leaves are yellowing and dropping, it's probably normal. However, if the clay pot does not have adequate drainage, it is possible that the roots are suffocating due to excessive moisture. About the only way you'll know for sure is to unpot the tree and check the roots. Wish I had more suggestions to share.
