there is a white fungi on my friends evergreen shrubs that go all the way around her house,it's on the trunk working it's way to the top of the bush and the leaves are falling off as it goes up. so far it's only on the one kind of plant, Does she need to cut them down or is there another solution? thank you for your help. cookie

I can't identify the problem without seeing it, but it sounds like a fungus from a root rot. Your neighbor might want to take a sample to your local cooperative extension for positive diagnosis. (University of Tennessee Hamblin County Cooperative Extension, 511 W. 2nd North Street Room 204, Morristown, TN 37814-3997 phone 423-586-6111). Helpful folks there can identify the problem and suggest remedies. Good luck with the shrubs!
