According to Scott Ogden?s book 'Garden Bulbs for the South' zone 8b is the perfect climate for Sparaxis elegans, the Harlequin flower. These plants are native to south Africa and are quite at home in Alabama's hot, humid summer weather. These plant grow best in full sun, in well draining, slightly acidic soils and they flower from late spring until early fall. |
