The best time to prune Carolina jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens) is after it completes its bloom in the early spring. That way it will have time to send out new shoots that can mature and set bloom bud for the following year. You can prune the plant back as much as you like. The new growth is vigorous and should fill in any gaps that are made by your pruning. Enjoy your garden!
