I received a Dendrobium hybrid orchid this past summer and the last flower has just fallen off. Am i supposed to cut the spike back or leave it alone -- I have read both on other websites. If it should be cut back, how do I know where to cut it?

Dendrobium orchids will sometimes flower a second time on the same flower spike so I'd simply prune the stem just below the dead flowers. You may see new flower buds develop a little lower down on the stem. If the stem is not capable of producing new flowers it will begin to shrivel up. At that time you can prune it completely off the plant. Hope this clarifies things for you.
