|The answer really depends upon the type of red maple you plant. For instance, Bloodgood and Crimson Queen maples will grow in full sun, but Fireglow maple prefers only a few hours of morning sunshine and then shade during the hot afternoon hours. I've found that the filigree or split-leaf maples are less tolerant of sunshine than maples will solid or full maple leaves. Hope this information is helpful.
