|A single brown spot on a leaf isn't cause for alarm - it could be that the tissue was damaged by handling the leaf. But if you find it unattractive or if you're worried it might be a pest or the beginning of a disease, simply clip off the leaf and remove it from the plant. You can plant your pothos in a big bucket, as long as the bucket has lots of drainage holes in the bottom so excess water can drain away. Enjoy your new plant.
