i have 2 esperanza shrubs i think otherwise know as yellow bells and a couple of rose bushes they now have some brown dried cracked leaves. what can i do to save them. thought about taking off leaves but that would leave them pretty bare. |
Sounds as though winter weather has taken its toll on your yellow bells and roses. Not to worry, though. You can prune away the dead plant parts and both shrubs will react by developing healthy new stems and leaves. Since you still have a chance for some cold weather, hold off on pruning until the last week of February or first week of March. By then you should see signs of new growth, or at least green leaf buds on your plants. Prune off the winter kill by pruning just above the fat green buds. Best wishes with your landscape! |
