trimming bushes - Knowledgebase Question

Could you please tell me when burning bushes should be pruned?/trimmed? my bushes turned red this year-last year-0--they are all 'out of shape'-they were mowed down by a drunk driver last year--so they are all misshapen--I would like to help them and get to them before they bud--help! thanks so much---Joyce

How sad for your shrubs! You can get them back into shape by pruning early this spring. Wait until they begin to show signs of life, though. If you prune too early any new growth they develop can be killed back by a late frost. Just wait until you see new buds beginning to swell on the branches, then prune your shrub to re-shape it.
