About the only time you should not transplant an orchid is when it is in bloom. Aside from this caution, it's important to note that orchids bloom best when they are potbound. If you place an orchid in an oversized pot it won't bloom until the roots become crowded in the new pot. So, choose the new pot carefully, making sure it is only slightly larger than the current pot. Best wishes with your orchid.
