What you describe sound like fungus gnats. Indoors they're easy to control; outdoors, they're not. If your pineapple plants are indoors, you can use a soil drench such as insecticidal soap or Gnatrol. Outdoors, you may be able to discourage the gnats by placing a few inches of sand or gravel over the soil around your pineapple plants. Fungus gnats feed and breed in moist organic matter so a physical barrier such as sand or gravel may encourage them to leave. Hope so!
