Grass seeds will germinate when soil temperatures are about 40F. Mid-April is the usually recommended time to broadcast your seeds because they will sprout within 7-10 days. But, if you can't wait that long, wait at least until mid-March. If the weather is too cold the seeds will just sit patiently until things warm up. When conditions are warm enough, the seeds will sprout.
