Last summer I planted a container rosemary bush in the ground on the north side of my house. It got direct sun most of the day. I kept it watered 1 X/week, but it began to turn brown and eventually died completely. What did I do wrong?

About the only thing that will make a rosemary turn brown is poorly draining soil which can cause root rot. Fungal diseases sometimes attack these plants but only if the plant is already stressed and weak. Try planting your rosemary on a berm or mound of soil to ensure it drains well. Water when the top inch of soil is dry (dig down to make sure). Hope this helps!
