Your chaste tree will bloom from summer through fall. If you prune after each flower display by cutting the clusters off just where they meet the stemm newew growth will develop where you've pruned. Additional blooms will appear in August and September.
Hydrangeas can be pruned in the spring, just as leaf buds begin to swell on the stems of the plant. You can prune everything down to knee high then reach into the center of the shrub and remove some of the oldest stems to thin the plant out a bit. You can then shorten the remaining stems by cutting to an outside facing leaf bud. The new growth that emerges from below the pruning cuts will develop into a flowering stem. Enjoy your garden!
