|Gardenias can and should be pruned to encourage lots of new growth and lots of flowers. Since they bloom on and off all spring and summer long you might try pruning them now or pruning them in between flushes of blooms. You can take the shrubs back by 4-6 inches without harming them. Use an acidified fertilizer for your gardening (Miracid, Miracle Gro, etc. - anything labeled for use on acid-loving plants). Best wishes with your gardenia.
