How much does a veggie garden need of sun? I have hardly any full sun in the back yard...?

Vegetables that flower and develop fruit (tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, corn, etc.) need at least 8 hours of direct sunshine each day. Leafy vegetables and those that grow underground need less direct sunshine but they do best with at least 4 hours of sun. These include lettuces, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, radishes, carrots, etc. Best wishes with your garden.
