Vegetables that flower and set fruit need at least 8 hours of direct sunshine. These include tomatoes, peppers, squash, etc. Those that produce underground or that produce leaves that you consume can get along with about 4 hours of sunshine. These include lettuces, spinach, carrots, radishes and Swiss chard. If you have only 4 hours of sunshine, you can plant leafy greens, peas, beans, carrots and radishes. Good luck with your garden.
