What would be good to grow under a 25 year old live oak tree? It is very shady.

Live oaks cast a dense shade. They also retain their leaves through most of the winter, making it difficult for understory plants to get enough light intensity to do very well.

Mondograss (Monkeygrass), liriope, English ivy, peacock ginger and ferns are among the few things that can take that much shade.
