| My Dad grew ?Yellow Pear? tomatoes when I was a child in Clovis, New Mexico. I now live in the Houston, TX area with its horrid heat/humidity conditions in the summer. Should I hold off planting the yellow pear tomato seeds until fall? Or should I put them in now (spring)? |
| Dear suffering soul in the southeast Texas sauna, I've grown ?Yellow Pear? in southeast Texas and found that it grew and produced very well and then promptly died when the heat of summer arrived in full force. I would suggest them both for spring and fall planting. Just don't expect them (or most tomato varieties for that matter) to set fruit well once summer heat up. When planting for fall, make sure and get them planted in July so you have plenty of time to grow and set fruit before the first frost.
