The soil on one side of our new garage is very damp. What shrubs could we plant in this area?

You might want to look into the cause of the dampness and make sure it won't damage the garage foundation -- but some shrubs which tolerate damp soil and a variety of lighting conditions are the shrubby dogwoods, the deciduous winterberry hollies (Ilex verticillata), evergreen inkberry holly (Ilex glabra), aronia, and summersweet clethra.
