|I have read that you need more than one variety of blueberry bush for cross-polination. Do all the varieties bloom at the same time? What would the best combination be for North Carolina?|
|In North Carolina, you can grow highbush blueberry as well as the rabbiteye blueberry (and even a new type called Southern highbush). For cross-pollination you want to select different varieties from the same type (not one rabbiteye and one highbush). It is best to plant more than two varieties to hedge your bet a little. This way you will better overlap the bloom times of different varieties, as some bloom earlier and some later than others.
