What would go well with impatiens in a shaded 4ftx6ft area?

I mix Impatiens and Lobelia in my shady bed. You might also consider Hosta, Pansy or Sweet Woodruff for companions to your Impatiens. They all have the same cultural requirements and the leaves will contrast nicely with the leaves of your Impatiens.
