What could we use as a ground cover for our slope? We have a lot of gophers and need something that is drought tolerant, and also fire retardant. |
You didn't specify whether you needed plants for a sunny, or a shady slope, so we'll supply suggestions for plants that fit your requirements and will grow in either sun or shade. Aptenia cordifolia 'Apple Red' is an exceptional groundcover for your area, growing 6"-8" tall, bearing bright red flowers and requiring very little water. The height will help disguise any gopher tunnels or mounds of dirt they leave. Also consider Kinnikinnick, Calylophus hartwegii, Gazania, Malephora (Ice Plant) or Ground Morning Glory. |
