I would like to know the best soil, or fertilizer for the best results in growing a garden in 4 weeks? |
A good garden soil is usually fairly rich, moist yet well drained and has ample quantities of organic matter ensuring an excellent structure for plant growth. Specific requirements, such as ideal pH, are further dependent on what plants you want to grow. (Plant growth is further affected by weather -- both temperatures and moisture levels -- and by the suitablility of the types and varieties to your overall location.) The only way to know exactly what your soil is (or is not) lacking is to run some basic tests and then add amendments based on the results of those tests. Your County Extension (265-5051) should be able to help you with the tests and with interpreting the results. |
