My wife and I want to start a small garden. We want to grow Sunflowers to feed the wild birds. They like Black Oil Sunflower Seed the best. Which sunflower plant will produce the Black Oil Seed?

Black Oil Sunflower seeds are generally grown as a commercial crop and seed would be obtained from a farm seed dealer or supplier. In my experience, the birds are more than happy to eat absolutely any kind of sunflower seed -- even before you can harvest it! Since you have a small garden you might enjoy some of the newer multi-branched types, although the traditional large headed sunflowers types are very attractive as well as more productive.
