Is Sweet William a perennial? I heard that it blooms mid summer and again in the fall. Will it come back next year as well? |
Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus) is a biennial, meaning that the plant grows one year, and flowers the next. There is a new variety of sweet William ('New Era') that, when planted early, blooms both years. There are other Dianthus species that are annuals (D. chinensis, D. caryophyllus), others perennials (the "pinks"). |
