All fertilizer packages state how much of the product to use or mix with water to make a solution. Always follow the package instructions exactly.

Miracle-Gro has different instructions depending upon what plant you are feeding. For example, for houseplants, the Miracle-Gro plant food (15-30-15) container says to mix 1 teaspoon of Miracle Gro to 1 gallon of water. For outdoor plants, that same container says to mix 1 tablespoon of Miracle-Gro to 1 gallon of water and goes on to recommend how much to apply for different types of plants.

Grapefruit should be fertilized 3 times per year in Jan/Feb; Apr/May; and Aug-Sept. Each feeding should contain 1/3 of the tree's total annual nitrogen requirements. Requirements vary according to the age of the tree. For an excellent chart that helps you determine exactly how much nitrogen to apply, contact the Maricopa County Cooperative Extension at 602-470-8086, ext. 301 and ask how to receive Publication MC91, Fertilizing Citrus Chart. There's also a satellite office near you in Sun City West. Phone 623-546-1672. They are open 9-1, Tues., Thurs., and Fri.
